Over
the past 20 years, Michael has held a number of foreign and
domestic positions in business development and project
management.
Recently
retired from Chevron Oil Corporation after assignments in
Hawaii, Australia, Africa and the Middle East, Michael
joined Active Safety in 2005 to expand business
opportunities in the USA. Previously, he worked with
start-ups Novazone and Tentoe.
During
his tenure with Chevron, Michael held project engineering
and operations management positions in petroleum production,
refining and marketing. Michael was also
involved with several corporate venture initiatives targeted
at increasing company profitability with new technologies.
As
a President in Chevron’s exploration and production unit,
Michael led successful technology marketing initiatives in
Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries. As an
engineer in Africa and Australia, Michael managed design,
procurement, construction and commissioning activities on
numerous onshore and offshore projects where safety
equipment and procedures were the highest priority.
Now,
in a sales engineering role for Active Safety, Michael
leverages his experience to ensure that client solutions are
properly specified, value engineered and delivered on
schedule. A LEED AP, Michael stands ready to assist
LEED and other sustainable building project teams integrate
photoluminescent exit systems into their designs.
Michael
is helping to increase the popularity of
photoluminescent exit systems with developers, architects
and engineers by authoring articles in Buildings,
Eco-Structure and Archi Tech magazines, as well as providing
interviews on green radio stations. An alumnus of the
University of California [BS-Mechanical Engineering],
Michael became a LEED accredited professional in 2006 and is
a member of the San Diego USGBC chapter and the
Photoluminescent Safety Association.
Michael
lives in North County, San Diego, California and enjoys
racing his J-105 sailboat “Speedplay” and his Sabot
sailboat “Ash-B” out of the San Diego Yacht Club where
he is the Senior Sabot fleet captain. When he is not
sailing with his son Cutter, they are surfing off of Del Mar
Cliffs, riding mountain bikes or golfing at one of the local
executive courses.
